What is InnerSwing Golf Performance?

InnerSwing Golf Performance was created by Dr.David A. Berv (director of Back In Action).
Dr. Berv had taken the last two years to refine the program, during which time he was on sabbatical from clinical chiropractic practice.  He has recently returned to Back In Action as a treating clinician.  InnerSwing golf performance is now available to Back In Action clients and the general public.

InnerSwing golf performance has been designed with an emphasis on the physical side of golf.  In particular, Dr. Berv's niche is in working with baby boomer golfers - those who are beginning to notice that their game is not what it was in their twenties and thirties.  Thus, the emphasis of this program is to enable golfers to play their passion for a lifetime.  There are no fancy gadgets, and the recommended exercise programs take minimal time with efficient results.

As a sports physician, master golf fitness instructor and single digit handicap golfer, Dr. Berv has taken golf instruction to the next level.  Dr. Berv utilizes a combination of prescriptive exercises based upon physical testing (you bend, squat, twist, turn, balance to gain an insight of your weaknesses ), and state-of-the-art wireless technology (wireless sensors that attach to your shoulders, hips and hands, that transmit 3-dimensional data to a computer).

This "3D motion analysis" technology is like taking an MRI of your swing.  Within seconds, you are able to see your swing in an animated fashion - in six different angles, i.e. face-on, down-line.  You also get immediate feedback in a summary format about your posture, alignment, hip and shoulder rotations, spine angle, sequencing and relative speeds of your hips, shoulders, and more - throughout your entire swing.

The other aspect of this technology is that you are able to work in what is termed a "live exercise mode".  While wearing the wireless sensors, you see an animated version of your torso and hips.  When you move, the model on the screen moves.

There are several ways that you receive positive reinforcement on how to attain and maintain the most efficient golf postures and positions:

-You get visual feedback, as the red torso/hips (seen above in blue/white) turns to green when
you get into the right positions / movements.

-You get auditory feedback, as you hear music when you get in the right positions / movements.

-You get kinesthetic feedback, as you experience the muscular sensations of being in the proper positions.

Some golfers simply want to experience the "wow" factor of this new technology.  It is impressive in itself and gives accurate, detailed information. These are typically one-session encounters.

Others want to be taught customized, golf-specific exercises, such as the example shown below, to create a more efficient golf swing.  These programs are two or more sessions.

The combination of the wireless sensor "live exercise mode", along with the exercise routines result in palpable differences in your golf game.  This can be tracked objectively over time from a 3D motion analysis perspective, and typically translates into increased distance, greater accuracy, better ball striking and less pain or stiffness during and after play.

Dr. Berv  has been frequently featured in golf magazines and has worked with many touring and club PGA golf professionals.  To see Dr. Berv's published articles, more information or to schedule an appointment, visit  www.innerswinggolf.com or call 652-9708.
